What started as request from my son, Richard, to make a cookbook for him as he moved into his first apartment has turned into a major project. Richard and I have always loved to cook together, but mostly he just did what I said to do (OK, in the kitchen, not necessarily in life). With the 1st few recipes he made, he would call home with questions and that’s really the story of how this all came about. Now all of his friends and mine too are clamoring for this to be a book and I’m determined to make that happen.
My husband is my test subject for a lot of this. For a really smart man, he’s just an idiot in the kitchen. His idea of a culinary challenge is to get peanut butter from the jar to the bread. Jelly? Forget it. He’d have to dig around in the fridge. He made a test recipe that had 4 ingredients last night, Easy Rolls. Asked A LOT of questions and used the wrong pan, even though it was specified in the recipe, but the result was good. He’s my slightly unwilling guinea pig, but he was proud of himself last night!
Tonight we’ll try him on a 5 ingredient wonder!!
