Hot Chocolate Chili Cookies

Ingredients

2 sticks butter (1 cup)

1 cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

½ tsp chili powder

½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp salt

Pinch of cayenne pepper

½ tsp baking powder

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 ½ cups flour

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Ingredients

With an electric mixer cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar.

Add eggs and vanilla and mix to combine.

Add all spices, salt, and baking soda and mix to combine, scraping down the sides of the bowl.

Add cocoa powder and combine.

Add flour 1 cup at a time to combine.

Roll into a log on a large piece of plastic wrap until about 2 -1/2 inches in diameter. Chill until firm, about an hour. 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Slice dough into 1/3-inch slices and arrange about 1 inch apart.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes until edges beginning to crisp.

Allow to cool and enjoy!

Both cookies can be stored in an airtight container.
